The writings of Dr. William Sears on baby basics, attachment parenting and breastfeeding have been invaluable to me as a new mom. Unfortunately I did not read all of his books before giving birth and could have saved myself some heartache early on! Attachment parenting has helped me become a more receptive and nurturing mom. I pass this information along so that anyone who doesn't know about Dr. Sears can check out his books at your local library!

Dr. Jack Newman's website was also extemely helpful to me when I started nursing. There are videos you can watch on his site that helped me learn proper latching. Google or Bing him if you are planning to nurse or are having problems. It will build your confidence when you are in doubt about your ability to nurse. He is straightforward and tough on formula companies but do not let that discourage you from supplementing when you are having a rough time. Mommy's sanity sometimes requires intervention!

I am also a huge fan of www.kellymom.com for breastfeeding advice, articles, research and forums. They share the attachment parenting philosophy-No CIO!-and provide a valuable support system for all stages of childhood.

There are Attachment Parenting International support group meetings on the second Sunday of each month in Johnson City, and I believe we'll also start having meetings in Bristol soon. Here is a link to meeting information: http://www.tricities.../meetings.html.

Yep. Love Dr. Sears!!! He's a great place to start. There are a ton of other authors and websites out there too. Once you start looking around....I'm really excited to start going to the API meetings. I'm actually not in TN right now but will be moving back in less than a month! I'm really hoping we might be able to get an AP play group started. If one doesn't already exist that is.

Carrie, I'm afraid I didn't see this until it was too late! I'll call the number to get in on the next meeting and put it up on the events calendar!
