Pre-School (not daycare) for 2+ year old Washington/Sullivan County

First I need to vent... I am beyond frustrated in trying to find a pre-school program for my son to attend. I'm a stay at home mother but want to get him in a program to get him social.
There are just a few places that have any information on the web, besides name/address/phone number. The few places I have called are SO vague with the information they give that the call was a waste of time. "Hi was calling to see if you offer a pre-school program." "Yes we do." "Can you tell me a little about the program?" "Sure. We have a program for pre-school ages." .......
I have looked at the "Provider List" on the TN state website which is great for state ratings but no times or websites are provided. Also it doesn't specify whether the facilities provide daycare only or have a preschool program too.
Does ANYONE have ANY suggestions for a Pre-School program, not daycare, that is not five days a week? I did call a First Christian Preschool in Johnson City but since my son didn't turn 2 before the end of Sept (his bday is in Nov), he wouldn't be able to attend until fall.
Just to complete my venting... I would think that all childcare facilities and preschool program providers would want to have a website so relocated families can find information and so they can "showoff" reviews, credentials, awards, etc. Not only would being able to see that information and pictures be great for people new to the area but great for everyone as assurance that it's a great place for their children. Even the "Resources" area on this site is no help. It uses the ishopthetri site which is fine but when you search "preschool" it returns all childcare facilities, whether they offer any preschool program or not. And it even returns a party rental place?!

I'm sorry you are having a hard time finding information on preschools. This website is a great resource for find places to locate and call, and while it does have a review feature, it is not in full swing yet. Ishopthetri is a newer resource, and people haven't placed their reviews yet.
If you are looking to socialize your son, I know Victory Baptist has a school program, but many parents use it as a daycare because they know their kids will learn. They are conservative and I have heard good things about them. I would check them out.

The "Playhouse PALS" at Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport sounds good but it doesn't say anything about 2 year olds and my son won't be 3 by Sept 30th.
The website link is below for anyone else interested.

I am also a stay at home mom and had looked into preschools quite some time ago for my 2 1/2 year old...before we learned of his mulitple food allergies (putting off preschool for now). I was also looking for a 2 day a week program. I found http://www.cbcsite.o...ekday_preschool that I had planned to look into further...I notice they have changed their website since I originally looked into, but I remember I was interested in them because they included younger ages than most actual pre-schools. Looks like they also have the Sept. birthday rule, but they appear to use this rule to determine which class they will fall into. They break the classes into 18 mos. - 23 mos. (2 days per week...this should cover your kiddo), 24 mos. - 4 years, and so on. Good luck!

Call Central Baptist Church 423-926-3696(across form the public library) in Johnson City. Their registration begins in February, so call them asap to find out the exact dates. Three day registration process. First day, for those who are currently enrolled. Second day is dedicated for those who are members of the church and third day is for new people. I recommend that you arrive earlier than recommended for enrollment times and if need - stand outside of the double doors (you'll find other parents doing the same) because it's a first come, first serve basis. The school offers MWF and T/TH or M-F (depending on your child's age). The cost is reasonable and the hours are 9-2 pm (I pay $150/month for two days a week 9-2 pm). You can also add "extended" hours to your child's stay there for additional costs. The more "extended" hours you sign up for the less expensive that additional hour becomes. So, class is from 9-2 pm and you can potentially add the extra hour 8-9 am and another hour from 2-3 pm. I've been happy with both teachers that my child has had. They are a kind and educated group of teachers and have an organized schedule of events. If you're opposed to christian religious study of any kind, than you need to ask the administration what their policy is in this regard.
I moved from an area with more opportunities in preschool and communications and can understand your frustrations. Hang in there and call Central Baptist today.

First Presbyterian Church in downtown Johnson City has a wonderful program. They are taking registrations for next year right now.
http://www.fpcjc.org/preschool.html
It does start with 2 year olds (2 by the end of September). There are 2 day/week classes for 2 and 3 year olds, 3 day/week classes for 3 and 4 year olds and 5 day/week classes for 4 year olds. It runs 9am - noon, and there is aftercare available.

I understand your frustration with trying to find preschool information online - It's tough. I moved here from out of state and wanted to get my guy enrolled before I came, but found very little online. So, I picked up the phone and starting calling - I didn't want daycare, just a loving Christian part time program for my 2 year old. Most of the preschools were full by June, but the people were friendly and starting rattling off names of churches that they thought offered programs - and there are a lot! I ended up enrolling him at Wesley Memorial Preschool & couldn't be happier! He & I both love it. The director Mary was wonderful and helped me get everything I needed completed before I moved. She's easy to reach & chat with if you ever have a problem or concern - we've talked a few times about my son starting to studder. The teachers too are top notch. He went 2 days a week that first year in the 2 year old program, and this year he's in the 5 day program for three year olds - although they offer 2,3 or 5 days a week. The program is very well run and the teachers love what they do - it's obvious. One of his teachers gave him a birthday card and when I asked him about it, he responded "It's from Ms Ruth because her loves me!" Need I say more?
For a more reviews of Wesley, check out ishopthetri.com - It lists a lot of providers (day care and preschools), but you can easily find Wesley and read others reviews. Mine is located at: http://www.ishopthet...reschool/?c=220
