Looking for a more holistic ob

I have a 6 month old and I am in the process of looking for a new ob. My first experience was with Seasons at Bristol and it was horrible. Long story short, I was talked into an induction that was not medically necessary and ended up with nerve damage that I am still suffering from. I hated Seasons b/c it was so impersonal. They didn't even anknowledge that anything went wrong with the delivery when I went back. I would love to find a Dr. who I would see everytime and would get to know me and my wishes. I know that next time I will not be able to have an epidural and will need special precautions taken to make sure this doesn't happen again. I would love to find a midwife, but I don't know if there are any in the area. I'm in the Bristol area, but wouldn't mind to travel to Kingsport or JC for the right person. Thanks for reading!

You might try this Yahoo group. http://health.groups...p/tricitiesNFL/ It doesn't get a lot of action but the last question posted was the same as yours.

I go to Med Center OB in JC I like it because they listen to you. I also like it because they dont share a labor department with any other doctors than the ones in there pratice at the Hospital right now they use the Specilaty Hosp. but when Franklin Woods is done they will use it.

I had my son at Lisa Ross Birth Center in Knoxville. They are the absolute best. I know it's quite a drive, but maybe you could call them up and ask if there are any registered midwives in your area they would recommend?
Thanks for the info. I wish we had something like that around here. I will give them a call for sure. Maybe by the time I have another child there will be some more choices.

I suggest Dr. Box in Johnson City - he is wonderful, really listens and won't prescribe you anything you don't need!

There is a midwife located near Milligan College between Elizabethton and Johnson City. I had a home birth with my daughter with her and she was great. Her name is Angie Neis. Another midwife in the same area is Deette Nicholson and I've heard great things about her too. I can't seem to find a website for either of them but if you google their names you should be able to find their phone numbers.
