my daughter McKenzie is 14 months old i am having the hardest time trying to get her to eat vegetables. she no longer eats baby food because it just wasn't feeling her up so we've went to solid food. she used to would eat anything you gave her now i'm having problems with green beans, peas, mostly anything thats green she won't eat. she does like potatoes and corn. i've tried everything my mother said put a pinch of sugar on them well i did and she still did not eat them. so if anyone has any ideas on how to get her to eat them i would love to know how.

I am not much help to you, but I can't wait to hear what other people suggest. My daughter is 23 months old and won't eat any veggies except corn and only eats it sometimes. In the past she would eat green beans with ranch dressing on them and still will occasionaly but for the most part avoids all veggies.

This month's Parents Magazine (Feb 10) had a great article in it about getting toddlers to eat there veggies. I think you can access their articles on their website.

I am not a big help, my guy HAS to eat veggies or he will go hungry, but I do know that if you just keep giving them something even if they don't eat it, don't offer an alternative and they will eventually eat them.

You say sher will eat potatos. My mom use to mix peas in with mashed potatoes and I have tried that with some kids I keep and it works. Also leave it on the table when she gets hungery give her plate to her again. She will eat evently. dont give her a choice of something else and she will eat them when she is hungry enuf.

One thing I've done is put ketchup on green stuff. We use salt, too, but ketchup can help. Also salad dressings might help make it tastier. There are some really good suggestions on here - I hope you have success soon!

My son will eat veggies mostly at lunch, and he's many times with his grandma when he does. He will eat them, but not a lot. I would say keep on trying, and don't' get too discouraged. I would keep giving them to her, and try not to sweat when she doesn't eat them. To make sure she gets her nutrients, you can give her a multi vitamin for kids as she gets older or try pedi-sure if you feel she's not getting what she needs.

Having the same issues w/ 2 1/2 year old, especially with green veggies. I have resorted to hiding the veggies. I shred zuchinni and add it to banana bread muffins. A big trick with my son is also rotating the veggies, so that he isn't having the same thing...one day he may be gaga for corn but if you have leftovers to share with him the next day, you would think it was a food he didn't care for at all. He used to eat broccoli regularly, but doesn't seem to care much for it these days...I hide a little of it in cheese straw type crackers that I bake. He used to eat asparagus as well...no longer a fan. He used to like green peas, but now they gag him (texture?). I'm still searching for ways to incorporate these into something that he won't reject. My son WILL eat yellow squash slices baked in the oven w/ salt and butter. And he gets tomato from homemade pizza sauce. I haven't tried it yet, but have read that pizza/pasta sauces are good places to hide vegetables for picky eaters. A healthy veggie dip for corn or potato chips may be an idea. Veggies can be tricky! Good luck!

One thing I do is mix steamed broccoli and carrots (cut up really tiny) into my 16 mo old's ramen noodles. She likes ramen noodles so much she takes big bites without realizing its in there. I also let her eat peas and greenbeans with her fingers. She wont eat them from a spoon but will if she can do it herself. Hope this helps!

My daughter is a seriously picky eater as well. We always present the vegetable and recently I've of been hiding another serving of vege's pureed (magic bullet food processor is excellent product) into her favorite foods (pizza for example). Last week, I pureed spinach with cottage cheese and a dash of chicken stock and used that as the base for the pizza and than placed a layer of red pizza sauce with cheese and a meat/protein and it works! There's a book (on another thread) that was written by Jessica Seinfeld called "Deceptively Delicious" and the concept is what I've been currently following. Hang in there.

One thing I do, when I make a grilled cheese sandwich, I put cooked carrots on there. You can't taste them and it makes the sandwich a little healthier! I also use the deceptively delicious cookbook. You can make chocolate chip cookies with chick peas in it and you can't even taste them. You can also mix chick peas with mashed potatoes, you just have to mash them really well.
