I'm not there yet, so I don't know. Does your daughter want to have a party? Has she mentioned wanting to plan it or have some friends over? She might want to plan it with you since it's a big year this year. Since it is cold weather months, maybe going to a matinee movie just her and her friends and then come back for a yummy dinner and a fun girl night. I'm just thinking of what I would have liked. lol.

I would say if it is more of a "hang out" party, your son doesn't need a friend unless you want him to. Maybe he could even go to a friends house so your daughter can have the house to herself! lol.

well i have a 14 yr old daughter and she said no to the party. just let your daughter have a its all about her day and let her do what she wants to do and if she wants a party let her plan it and pick who she wants to be there. this is from a teenagers point of view. hope it helps.

I remember being terribly cranky at 13. That was a tough transitional age for me. I'd let her pick what she wants to do even if it's not much at all as you would want it to be. You sound like a great mom.

I have 3 boys and a girl ages 8months - 16years. I wouldn't let my son invite friends over as it is HER day. HOWEVER - I would ask my son if he could arrange something with his friends AWAY from the party. (Go to a movie, hang out at another's house, etc.) Keep in mind that you will be having 13 yo girls in your home... then you will be asking 16 yo boys to come over as well... I see that as a recipe for DRAMA! This is all merely my opinion as my older kids are boys and I've seen the raging hormones!!!

As far as the party goes - you could most certainly do this on your own, but there is a company called Petite Priss that will come into your home and do "complete" makeovers for the girls - hair, makeup, nails, etc. Petite Priss is geared toward boosting self-confidence in young women.

thanks for all the info about the party, it did help she wants to have a medium size party with about ten freinds and the idea about the make over really won her over and gave us a great idea for a theme , and as far as my son goes he is ok with not having anyone over other than his girl friend but her and my daughter like each other and she said it was ok i am new to this site and just trying to get info outside the house and kids lol thanks alot i will probably post more questions about teenage stuff aka "drama" questions i thought having small children was a handful but teenagers omg!!!!!lol
